BCCI's billion dollar baby,(adopted by K.P.Singh at some 100crores!)
The cash rich extravaganza,
The fusion of glamour(read shilpa shetty and preity zinta),money(do not read vijay mallya, because then glamour won't like fusing with money) and cricket.
Call it whatever you like but cricket's attempt to emulate football is backkk
AND,if you still don't know that we are talking about the IPL,than either:
1.you don't read newspapers or
2.you don't watch news channels
YES,come april twenty-o-nine and the money-generating-machine will stage a grand comeback.
NOW,before we go on to talk about IPL,season-2 itself, let us first discuss its IMPACTS on other cricketing nations like Australia and England.
As we all very well know, the basic cause of the downfall of aussies is the lucrative deals their players got from the IPL franchisees.Ricky Ponting for instance was auctioned in 2008 at 4 lac USD ,his mind was distracted from cricket to money and consequently his performance declined( though it is another fact that Ishant Sharma, auctoned at 9,50,000 USD,has been consistently improving and tormenting the punter).Mr cricket Micheal hussey,at 3,50,000 USD,also fell prey to the IPL( though it is another fact that Dhoni ,at 15 lac USD,is the top ranked ODI batsman at this moment).
The primary reason of the recent demise of the Brits against the windies is not different.Pietersen and Flintoff were easily attracted by their astrnomical future salary(1.55 million for both) and consequently England were bowled out for a mere 51( though it is yet another fact that all the players of the team who set their demise had pocketed a million dollar each not so long ago thanks to some billionare named Stanford).
